Mixology

cocktail mixing visualization

Project Description

Mixology is a prototype of a data visualization that allows the user to visualize cocktail mixology. Most bartending website are not visually appealing and are hard to navigate and only a few allow a user to search recipes based on their bar stock. My solution was to create a visualization that user's can do a text-search based on their bar stock as well as a visual search. Lines are drawn to each ingrident within a recipe and the seleced drink line is highlighted.

AmplRoom (for RIT48)

We take the guesswork out of finding a roommate

Project Description

AmplRoom is a web start up that I, along with my 4 teammates (Craig Martek, Richard Thomas, David Brenner, and Scott Victor) created in order to compete in RIT48. What is RIT48? It was a challenege to create a web start up company in 48 hours. We had to produce a solid business plan complete with financials and plan for monetization along with a working prototype of our website. AmplRoom, our business, is a roommate matching system that serves a dual pupose: find a roommate AND find a place to live.

The judges award us first place in the competition because of our business plan and our designs. While my layouts are in their early stages, this is still a remarkable project that I am proud to have been apart of and I'm throughly impressed with the quality of work that we were able to turn on in such a short period of time. The best part is that my team mates and I are going to continue to refine the functionality of AmplRoom and eventually launch our services. It's just the beginning for us.

Write it in Frosting

if you had to die, how would you say goodbye

Project Description

"Write it in Frosting" was the brain child of me and Stephanie Boland. We took the idea of people's last words before they die and approached it in a light-hearted and fun way. Stephanie designed our logo and poster that we hung around RIT campus while I designed the accompanying website. Between the posters, Facebook, and word of mouth, we were able to generate interest in our website and got people to contribute their ananymous "last words." We wanted a more interactive way to distribute everyone's last words to the RIT community so we used cupcakes. We baked over 200 cupcakes and printed out 200 of the best "last words." The "last words" were attached to the back of a cupcake sleeve that we created out of scrap booking paper. The last words were taped to the inside of the sleeve so people had to stop and take the sleeve off in order to find their "last word." Passing out the free cupcakes with both whimisical and thoughtful last worsd touched the hearts (and stomachs) of +200 RIT students.

Pixel Network

TV station identity

Project Description

Our assignment was simple - "create sick comps." I choose to do a brand identity system for the fictional television station "Pixel TV." I created story boards for an animated bug, a 30-second station introduction, a "what's up next?" screen, and a "production of" screen. I wanted to portray Pixel TV as a station that was serious in nature while maintaing a fun and creative side.

State Website Resdesign

Mass.gov

Project Description

The state redesign project focused on the process work as much as the final design. I started by creating a detailed wire frame of the original Mass.gov website. From there, I was able to abstract the wire frame into another round of wire frames for what would become the final desgin. I came up with three different comps for this site, some which had slight variations.
